Role description

To assist in the facilitation and running of the JSM Training Centre whilst enabling the delivery, assessments and coordination along with collating all feedback and test papers for both internal and external clients meets the required standards. Ensuring consistency and providing outstanding delivery and performance of training along with all training materials to industry standards.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities

The training element of the position is to give all employees and candidates the skills, under-pinning knowledge, along with an industry understanding with all the practical skills and motivation to conduct work-related tasks.

The Training Specialist will assist the Training Centre in the development, delivery and quality assurance of all learning and development material. Alongside the delivery of courses and company inductions in accordance with the company policies and mission statement.

The development work will relate to the ongoing, long-term continuous development and improvement of employees and candidates so that they can fulfil their own potential and operational role within the organisation.

The training specialist is also responsible for developing and measuring of comprehensive training packages that encompasses both elements to maintain a motivated and skilled workforce.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable with live Q&A in relation to training activity and direct application
  • Self-motivated but able to work as part of a team, with the ability to adapt to changing situations
  • Good organisation and time management
  • Good facilitation and presentation skills
  • Good organisation and planning skills
  • A personal commitment to improving one's own knowledge and skills
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching/delivering experience
  • Competent in use of MS office suite
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (EATS) or equivalent is desirable
  • Qualifications in construction/utility industry is desirable
  • EUSR Trainer accredited is desirable

General Duties

  • Identifying learning and development needs within JSM through job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with senior managers.
  • Designing and developing learning and development programs based on industry standards and individual training needs.
  • Working in a team to produce programs that are satisfactory to all relevant parties within with JSM Group, including line managers and senior managers.
  • Devising individual learning plans.
  • Producing training materials for courses and inductions.
  • Delivery of learning and development programs.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees by using questionnaires along with discussions and occupational based audits in line with line manager requirements.
  • Ensuring that the statutory training requirements are achieved in line with policy.
  • Produce training materials and manuals for courses.
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups.
  • Provide material to the training manager for reports for both the HR Director and board of Directors on training issues such as non-compliance and skills gaps.
  • Maintain personal CPD and knowledge of all industry standards.
