Field Based - River Road

Role Description

To undertake day to day on assigned projects and/ or work streams associated with Framework Contracts providing cable installation, jointing, testing, reporting and maintenance services to the comms industry and key clients.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Technically competent in all Fibre optics installation practices
  • Good communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated but able to work as part of a team with ability to work under pressure
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • Good time keeping, adhering to start and work times, as per contract
  • Competent with the use of technology, particularly in App reporting and recording
  • The ability to complete and report 40 splices and 40 pig tail tests within a working day
  • Full UK driving license

Principal Duties and Accountabilities

  • Undertake daily reporting in the AppCan system, ensuring that all works are documented according to the RLD diagram
  • Undertake day to day installation works across all comms clients as directed by the remediation Project Manager
  • Submittal of final test results and job pack return documentation, immediately upon completion of the “node”
  • Ensure any extra works are documented and authorised by the Fibre Project Manager.
  • Attendance at company and external progress review and operational meetings as required.
  • Promotion and implementation of SQE policies and procedures
  • Ensure RAMS and Method statements are adhered too
  • Ensure “Site Specific Risk Assessments” are carried out, and are suitable and sufficient for the work undertaken
  • Completion of Employee Timesheets, Labour and Transport Return sheets, in a timely manner
  • To promote the services of JSM whilst carrying out your duties to assist in creating new business
  • Ensure continuous improvement in client relationship & visibility on site
  • To support the contract in its compliance under CDM
  • Report all accidents to the SQE department
  • Ensure adherence to the company PPE standards
  • Report all damages to the Remediation Project Manager
  • Undertake any other ad hoc duties as deemed appropriate by their Line Manager / Director
  • Daily checks of performance and delivery in terms of splices completed and testing completed.
  • Quality checks of work undertaken
  • Monitoring of stock levels, and update accordingly
  • Adherence to SOP issued by the client, and relevant reporting if the standards cannot be met
  • Adherence to the SHEQ requirements for the contract:
    • 1 Audit per week
    • 1 TBT
    • As many near misses as are deemed necessary, according to site conditions
