Another win for NICE® at the Street Works Awards 2017

December 14th, 2017

Recently JSM won another award for the innovation NICE® (Non-Intrusive Cable Extraction), this time at the 2017 Street Works Awards (formerly NJUG Awards) for Best Sustainable Method.

JSM faced stiff competition in their category but came out triumphant and managed to bring home the win. The Street Works UK Awards showcases examples of industry innovation and best practices with the aim of encouraging practices that drive up standards and reduce disruption.

Street Works UK is the UK’s only cross-sector trade association representing gas, electricity, water, sewage and telecommunications utility companies, their contractor partners and a range of affiliate companies that provide goods, materials, equipment and services that support Street Works UK’s Vision for Street Works.

These accolades received for NICE® continue to demonstrate the need for this technology in the industry.

John Fitzgerald, Contract Manager said “To challenge and change longstanding historical practices is a difficult journey for anyone to set off on. Following on from JSM’s relentless research and in-house development of these game changing innovations, it is extremely encouraging to be recognised by these prestigious awards. But actually winning awards make all the hard work worth it. I am personally delighted and humbled that our Industry and Environmental professionals have identified and taken on board the multiple measurable benefits of our pioneering innovations. We are now moving closer to realising that our Innovations will become business as usual practices for the Electricity transmission and distribution industries across the UK and the world.”

JSM reaches 4 million man hours without a reportable RIDDOR

December 4th, 2017

JSM recently celebrated reaching four million man hours without a reportable injury under the RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences) regulations.

Mick Barrett, SHEQ Director says: “To have worked over 4 million hours without a RIDDOR is a remarkable achievement for the company. Even with the increases over the last few years in project turnover, number of man hours worked and number of workers, we still have seen a year on year reduction in accidents and lost time injuries. For a business the size of JSM this has to be seen as a considerable achievement and one to be proud of. A milestone in the pursuance of excellence in the management of health and safety.”

JSM would like to thank every employee, subcontractor and consultant for continuing to work safely with the company thus contributing to this fantastic accomplishment. Let’s keep it up!
