JSM were appointed to remove two joint bays and 460m of a 132kV circuit whilst installing a new usable 160mm SDR11 duct at the Westcombe Park site in Deptford.

Delivery and approach

JSM were appointed to remove two joint bays and 460m of a 132kV circuit whilst installing a new usable 160mm SDR11 duct at the Westcombe Park site in Deptford.

The joint bays were excavated at either end of the route section to be removed, the cables were drained and removed using the NICE method. New duct was installed in remaining void for future use.

This stretch of circuit was chosen due to the level of difficult as to further challenge the NICE technology.

 

Scope Of Work:

• Set up the traffic management for pedestrians, residents and students.

• Trial hole over the area with existing utilities

• Secure the site.

• Excavate the two joint bays at either end of the cable section route.

• Extracting joint bays to be launch and receive pits.

• The three single cables to be removed to be spiked to ensure safety then cut, capped and drained of all free remaining fluids.

• Extract the three cables from the launch pit using the no dig method.

• From launch and receive pits install overlay duct for future use.

• Reinstate the premises to client and local authority specifications.

• Demobilise from site.
