JSM was appointed Principal Contractor to provide multi-utility service diversions to facilitate piling operations for a new development in Central London. The modified building footprint impacted the public highway affecting eleven statutory utilities.

Value

£600K

Duration

7 Months

Date Completed

August 2013

Key project deliverables

  • JSM’s scope included liaising with the affected utilities to produce a diversionary design solution agreeable to all parties. Drawings were compiled in AutoCAD for the design, traffic management and as-built records. These were then issued in CAD and PDF format.
  • JSM coordinated the street works with the Local Authority and other Third Party Stakeholders carrying out all excavations to expose the utilities within the affected area and open a common trench for the diversions of affected utilities. The affected Utilities included BT Openreach, National Grid Electric, National Grid Gas (now Cadent), Thames Water, UK Power Networks LV and HV, Virgin Media and various other fibre optic telecommunications companies. We used Squire Energy Ltd to arrange and agree the design and install the new gas mains with National Grid.

JSM’s remit to challenge Utility Diversionary Estimates to carryout all excavation, duct laying, cabling and box-building where possible provided added value with savings on cost and time.

There would be no hesitation in appointing JSM for similar projects in the future’. Client Project Manager
