Helping transform the electricity sector
Delivering both transmission and distribution projects across the UK
- Helping our energy clients improve their electricity assets to increase their operational life
- Meeting the challenges of fluctuating energy demands by replacing and improving transmission and distribution infrastructure.
Our clients in the energy sector benefit from our significant capabilities in power transmission and distribution in the installation, jointing, commissioning and servicing and maintenance of cable infrastructure and associated equipment from 11kV up to and including 400kV.
We offer complete engineering services for electricity transmission and distribution which includes cable installation, removal, decommissioning and faults and services whilst we continue to build our substation and switchgear operations.
We provide full end to end services using our own direct staffing which includes feasibility studies, design, civils, installation, jointing, reinstatement and commissioning.
We own our own fleet of oil lorries and degasifiers to service the fluid filled cable industry which together with our leak detection capability provides a true complete solution to this specialist area of cable asset management.
Our work continues to ensure the delivery and reliability of a safe and secure supply for energy users nationwide whilst upgrading systems to support growing demands generated by renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, hydro and tidal power.
We support our clients in delivering effective capital expenditure by improving existing assets to increase their operational life and efficiency. Safeguarding supply by upgrading and replacing infrastructure and fast response to provide repair and maintenance services.
We work closely with our clients to assist them in meeting regulatory requirements whilst achieving the maximum return from their assets. We develop innovative engineering methods to achieve this, constantly developing safer and more cost effective work practices such as NICE (None Intrusive Cable Extraction) which removes cables up to 400kV from the ground without the need for open cut trench for the length of the cable thus reducing costs, disruption and mitigating environmental impacts.
Helping build and develop the UK’s digital communications infrastructure
Delivering key client projects for fixed, mobile, storage and access communications networks
- Helping our clients meet the challenge of delivering and maintaining fast and demanding communications infrastructure
- Unsurpassed knowledge of London’s communications infrastructure particularly in the congested, high visibility and prestigious environment that is the Capital.
Our clients in the communications marketplace benefit from JSM’s significant experience in delivering complete end to end installation solutions from Exchange to Exchange or to client Optical Distribution Frame (ODF).
We offer complete engineering services for the delivery of communications infrastructure including cable installation, removal, decommissioning and faults, services and maintenance. We provide full end to end services using our own direct staffing which includes feasibility studies, planning and design, civils, installation, jointing, testing, reinstatement and commissioning.
Our work continues to ensure the delivery, reliability, resilient and security of fast, latency free communication infrastructure for our clients. This includes customer connections, planned network enhancements and upgrades and Data Centre builds.
We also support our clients in delivering effective capital expenditure by improving existing assets to increase their operational life and efficiency. Safeguarding connectivity by upgrading and replacing infrastructure and fast response to provide repair and maintenance services.
We work closely with our clients to assist them in meeting regulatory requirements whilst achieving the maximum return from their assets. We develop innovative engineering delivery methods to achieve this, constantly developing safer and more cost effective work practices such as utilising London’s underground sewer system wherever possible to reduce disruption on London’s busy roads whilst mitigating environmental impacts and reducing overall costs.
Trust and JSM’s willingness to go just that little bit further to ensure client satisfaction together with our constant strive to develop new and innovative work methods has resulted in a number of prestigious Framework contract awards with some of the UK’s leading communication infrastructure providers and Telecoms companies.
JSM have developed its multi-utility experience within Central London in very congested and challenging environments in prestigious areas working for and on behalf of major developers.
- Project feasibility & surveys
- Project programming
- C2 enquiries
- C3 budget & C4 detailed estimates
- Coordination with statutory utilities and third parties surveys
- Design and mapping
- Project Management
- Financial monitoring and Cost Analysis.
JSM’s multi-utility service provides specialist capability within the multi-utility market space and is a rapidly growing part of the business. Our projects and developments services draws on our staff’s collective experience to provide a full range of end to end services for the provision of diversionary works or new infrastructure.
From project inception and feasibility studies with the identification of existing utilities infrastructure through procurement and provision of complete delivery options to include full installation and potential adoption by host utilities and the coordination with statutory utilities and their incumbent suppliers.
JSM provides a professionally implemented C2 plant enquiry service to help protect our clients’ apparatus against unforeseen damage by third party excavation and activities.
JSM manage C3 budgets and C4 detailed diversionary estimates on behalf of our clients.
We ensure full liaison with 3rd parties throughout the duration of diversionary works programmes, managing the implementation stage and completing the C9 reconciliation
NICE (Non Intrusive Cable Extraction)
JSM have launched NICE (Non Intrusive Cable Extraction) providing a unique and now proven method for removing decommissioned and redundant fluid filled underground cables normally free of charge.
Although subject to survey, JSM is confident that they will be able to remove cables for the cost of the retained asset and as such, no charge to its client
JSM have developed an innovative method for removing underground decommissioned fluid filled cables without the need for traditional open cut trenching for the length of the cable thus mitigating any environmental risks of leaving the cables buried.
Not only does this method represent huge cost savings but significant physical advantages by reducing disturbance and disruption but also reduces environmental impacts during the extraction process over traditional open cut trench methods.
NICE has been fully developed by JSM, successfully trialled and is currently delivering projects in the UK.
The benefits don’t end there, not only are JSM able to remove buried cable using this method but have the ability to replace the void made by the removed cable with new assets such as ducting and new cable at the same time. This means making the most of the route and/or crossing for future infrastructure installation and circuit overlays thus providing huge saving in terms of both time and costs.
We at JSM are confident this will very soon become the industry best practice for the removal of underground cables.
We at JSM will be delighted to demonstrate how we are able to achieve this, until now elusive method of complete cable extraction.
The method described in this method statement (“NICE” – Non-Intrusive Cable Extraction) [and the specially designed equipment to implement the NICE method are proprietary to JSM Construction Limited. NICE is a trade mark of JSM Construction Limited, and the NICE method is patent pending (number GB1408164.0).
