Role Description

To oversee day-to-day operations at site level on assigned projects and/or work streams associated with contracts providing PIA, cable installation, jointing and testing services to the Comms industry and key clients. To manage the efficient and economic use of resources, materials, transport, plant and equipment to its best potential.

Responsible for the supervision of multiple project and effective deployment of resources to ensure works are delivered incident free, in compliance with company policy and procedures, client specifications and standards, to programme and within budget. Where identified implementation of cost effective innovations to the business and liaison with Estimators and Surveyors to provide operational and technical support.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong Civils background.
  • CSCS and or EUSR Card for appropriate level of responsibility / competency.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in project supervisor position
  • Technically competent in PIA and Fibre optics installations
  • Competent in use of MS Word, MS Project, Excel and Office Outlook
  • SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
  • Good communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours when required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Telecommunications Industry particularly within the Fibre Optic installation, splicing and commissioning field.
  • Competent in use of OTDR emulation software

General Duties

  • Manage day to day work operations and installation scheduling across all comms clients, ensuring any additional works are agreed and documented
  • Conduct and document as required site surveys for new installations
  • Control, management and documentation of both internal and client stores i.e. cable, ODFs, BFPs, Patch Cords, Joints etc.
  • Site H&S checks on contractors and direct employees
  • Attendance at company and external Contract Handover, Progress Review and Operational meetings
  • Ownership of assigned projects responsible for ensuring Contract administration in accordance with the company Integrated Management System (IMS) and Contract Terms & Conditions
  • Promotion and implementation of SQE policies and procedures
  • Participation in delivery of Site Safety Briefings, Memo’s and Toolbox Talks
  • Ensure RAMS and Method statements are being adhered too
  • Ensure teams are carrying out “Site Specific Risk Assessments”
  • Liaison with Procurement to ensure materials ordered / called-off in a timely manner
  • Completion of Employee Timesheets, Labour and Plant & Transport Return sheets
  • Identifying opportunities for introduction of new innovations and industry products
  • To promote the services of JSM whilst carrying out your duties to assist in creating new business
  • Request Plant on-hire/off-hires through contact with the procurement department
  • Undertake any other ad hoc duties as deemed appropriate by their Line Manager / Director
  • Report all accidents to the SQE department and encourage reporting of Near Misses
  • To support the contract in its compliance under CDM
  • Ensure continuous improvement in client relationship & visibility on site
  • Enforce Yellow and Red card disciplinary procedure where applicable
  • Monitoring and review of site training records
