The role is to assist the team in the development and delivery of cable systems activities for substation projects.
Your design activities for main cable systems for 11kV and above, up to 132kV, include:
Skills and Experience Required:
HVAC cable calculations as per Local DNO regulations and general regulations and standards. Fully conversant with ENA/IEC/BS standards
Help in feasibility drawings of route design and trench sections to feasibility tendering team
Generating detailed cable reports and coordinating with other disciplines
Raise RFI/TQs for start of project. lead on Information required and attend meetings
Fully conversant and independently do with Cable sizing, cable pulling, cable thrust calcs reports. Help in design and procurement of cable and accessories
Cable sealing end structure design and interface with Primary design engineering
Proposing approaches to solve problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
Reviewing and optimising design, routing, JB location marking
Design of cable management system for HV and EHV cables
Contribute your technical expertise into tender proposals and to represent the company in client meetings as appropriate
Review supplier drawings and data sheets
Fully conversant with AutoCAD. Do ad-hoc CAD drawings if required
Cable sizing for substation area. Liaise with primary engineering
Attend meeting with Clients and DNOs
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
HVAC and HVDC projects
Perform work in accordance with the agreed budget and schedule with little supervision
Independently perform the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works to standard and compliant regulations
Coordinate across project disciplines, external subcontractors and remote offices such that technical risks are identified and mitigated, and all statutory and regulatory requirements are met
