2759 – Assistant Financial Accountant

Role Description

As part of the finance team, reporting directly to the financial accountant, the assistant financial accountant will be responsible for key month end closing procedures, monthly record keeping and contributing to the preparation of the monthly management accounts. This role also requires handling of audit queries and being the first point of contact for cash and banking related queries.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Part qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) or QBE
  • Strong communication skills, written & verbal.
  • Strong system skills including accounting software, Excel & MS Office
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Evision/microsoft dynamics NAV experience would be advantageous but not essential.

General Duties

  • Fixed Asset Register – ownership of ledger which includes reconciliation & depreciation calculations.
  • Daily bank reconciliations for all accounts
  • Processing payments including weekly runs of subcontractors, vendors, expenses & payroll.
  • Monthly cost allocation journals
  • Subcontractor CiS returns
  • Weekly review of AP ledger & discussions with the AP team on payment allocations
  • Weekly review of AR ledger & discussions on debt collection with financial accountant & Director of finance
  • Hire Purchase posting & reconciliations.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, including but not limited to accrual & prepayments reconciliations.
  • Monthly balance sheet recs i.e. payroll & tax control accounts
  • Supporting financial accountant during year-end close
  • Support on VAT reconciliation for quarterly return.
