Bracknell to Ascot

JSM as Principal Contractor undertook works for the installation of 2No 33kv circuits & 2No 24 Fibre Cables between Bracknell and Ascot HV substations. The route which was 7,800 metres in length involved all related civils works including SED’s and specialist traffic management, installation of 2 x 33kV circuits & fibre cables, all jointing, terminations and testing including the installation of new and modification to existing sealing end structures.

Due to restrictions imposed post contract Award by the Local Authority, JSM was requested by the client to accelerate the mobilisation to enable the start of specific sections of the route to avoid any conflict of programmes with other utility providers that were operating within the vicinity of the cable route. This required additional Stakeholder Management initiatives including extra visits to local businesses and coordination meetings with the Local Authority and other interested parties.

These restrictions had a major impact on the programme to the extent where it was necessary to review the construction programme on a daily basis to ensure we could adequately resource and adapt our working methods / patterns to successfully complete the works.
