JSM as the Principal Contractor undertook works for the design and build of a fibre network to link in two Data Centres in Chessington and Woking on behalf of a major telecoms client.
The network built was delivered in 4 legs:
1. Great Suffolk Street, London to Data Centre, Chessington
2. Data Centre, Chessington to Weybridge
3. Byfleet to Data Centre, Woking
4. Windlesham to Bagshot
The build involved the construction of new fibre network which was in total 51.7km in length. This included 28km of civils, installing 1 x 114mm duct with 1 x 2/20mm sub ducts. Due to the challenging programme timescales, 21km of the new duct was installed in the Thames Water sewer network using 2 x 40/33mm sub ducts. The new network installed used 144f G652 cable.
We also built new access chambers and a number of network breakout points along the route and built new building entry points and internal cabling and ODF’s as required.
The works also included SED’s and specialist Traffic Management.
JSM were responsible for ensuring CDM compliance and the management of the supply chain and specialist subcontractors utilised on the project.
JSM operates an Integrated Management System (IMS) which includes procedures covering the CDM regulations.
