Brackley to Silverstone

JSM was appointed by a UK DNO to carry out the installation of 2no 33kV cable circuits and 2no 96D Surf telecoms ducts on a 9.8km route from Brackley Substation to Silverstone Substation. These works were required to reinforce the existing 33kV network.

The route was through farmlands, highways, traffic sensitive areas, bridges with many Special Engineering Difficulties. In total JSM had to manage 4 SEDs at A43 Dual Carriageway, Hoppersford Bridge, Kings Hill Bridge and Brook, all managed using Horizontal Drilling. As part of the works we also ex- cavated joint bays and carried out the jointing, terminations and testing.

The route involved a tight program due to the number of road restrictions and took careful planning to keep traffic disruption to a minimum. Before the project started, JSM held an open evening for all residents, local businesses and local community to come and meet us and to discuss the project. We were able to share with them the programme, how and what we were doing to minimise disruption and mitigating any environmental impact. We also liaised with Network Rail and Highways Authority.

Danny O’ Brien, the client’s representative commented in our satisfaction survey that “The JSM project site team where 110% committed to the project from the first meeting to project completion”.
