Royal Albert Hall

JSM was appointed to carry out two diverse customer connections of feeding two 24F cables for our client’s client, the BBC.

These works had to be carefully planned and precisely executed due to it occurring in the midst of BBC Proms season, a prestigious classical music festival.

For connection one, JSM connected from an existing chamber on the existing client duct network located on Kensington Gore to the customer building (the Royal Albert Hall) via a new 110mm duct that was core drilled into the chamber and into the basement BT Frame Room in the customer building.

For connection two, JSM connected another existing client chamber on Kensington Gore to the Royal Albert Hall via a new 110mm duct that was core drilled into the chamber and the basement Break Tank Room in the customer building.

Additional noise pollution preventive solutions was implemented during this project to encourage minimal disruption, such as pedestrian acoustic barriers.

The last two days at the RAH have seen a really superb effort by JSM staff on site, from the civils, cabling and splicing teams. Members of the BBC and the Royal Albert Hall were on constant watch over every item of our works, and to everyone’s credit, the professional behaviour displayed and safe and tidy ways of working on site certainly seemed to alleviate their anxieties as every member of staff on site was approachable and accommodating.”
